Golden Facial Fit for a Queen

Golden Facial Fit for a Queen

Believe you’re eyes, you are seeing an image of a Japanese woman being pampered with a 24-carat golden facial.

When you thought you’d seen and heard it all the Japanese shock you with this lavishly unneccessary beauty treatment. The ancient art of the Kinpaku facial goes back 600 years and a bargain at 30,00 yen (about £220.) But there is a method behind the madness. The 24-carat golden leaves are said to have all sorts of healing properties from improving the circulation and rejuvenation of the skin to making the skin softer and more supple.

We at e.l.f. don’t think you need a golden facial to make you look beautiful. You have our amazing products to do that and with prices starting at £1.50 it’s a lot easier on the purse strings that a £220 golden facial!

What do you think of this ancient Japanese treatment? Would you pay £220 for the golden facial?

Would you let a fish bite you for beauty?

Would you let a fish bite you for beauty?

Gone are the days of using special scrubs and brushes to exfoliate your skin. The new Asian Spa trend which is to hit UK spas in 2009 is Fish Therapy!

We're turning to our fishy friends to pamper us and make our skin feel buffed and silky smooth. The therapy, which involves placing either your hands, feet or if you're feeling really daring, your entire body in to water that contains hundreds of little Turkish fish which nibble away at your dead skin cells revealing a layer of fresh new skin.

Ailments like psoriasis and flaking skin on fingers and feet are put under pain-free attack by these ravenous skin-savers, though the experience is most certainly not for the faint hearted. "It feels so bizarre putting your feet into a pool full of fish that are waiting to bite you" says Jenna Lloyd, who tried it out on her recent travels in South East Asia. "It tickles so much at first and it's so difficult not to laugh but once you get used to the sensation it can feel quite relaxing" she added.

The spa gimmick which is hugely popular in countries such as Japan and China takes exfoliation to a whole new level and leaves your skin feeling fantastic and unbelievably soft.

Would you dare to try fish therapy?
