Welcome to 2011!

Welcome to 2011!

Our Facebook fans are great at making New Year's beauty resolutions!

* To find a quick makeup routine for every day;
* To experiment with smoky eye looks;
* To take off all makeup before bed and use a good skin care routine;
* To drink more water.

To go with those admirable resolutions, here are a few easy ones from e.l.f. If they are new to you, why not give them a try?

Clear out and replace worn out, old and expired makeup with fresh new items.  Gloopy lipglosses, caked powder puffs and dishevelled brushes would be better off replaced with joyfully fresh and new ones.

Organise your makeup for maximum speed and efficiency on those rushed days. Isn't there always an annoying powdery residue from a half closed blush or smashed shadow in there?  Reinvigorate your old makeup bags and holders, use a damp soapy sponge to clean the inside of your makeup bag.  If you discover it is beyond salvation, why not replace it with a stylish new one from our range.

Clean brushes more often with our antibacterial brush cleanser and weekly with our brush shampoo.  You'll be surprised at how much better your brushes work and how much clearer your skin will look.

Sharpen pencils and wipe lipsticks/creams to keep them clean and germ free.

Replace mascara every three months and clean the wand every week using tissue or a wipe to avoid build up of clumpy old mascara.

Try something new, add primers and finishing powders to your routine to keep makeup looking fresh and polished.

What are your New Year's resolutions this year?

Keep your cool in the summer heat with e.l.f.

Keep your cool in the summer heat with e.l.f.

If the last last few days were anything to go by, we’re set for a long, hot summer full of BBQs and lazy afternoons in the park. However with the sunshine comes the heat, which can often lead to a make up disaster especially for those of us that need to commute and work from an office in the hot months. Never fear, because e.l.f. is on hand to keep you, and your make up, looking as cool as a cucumber all day long.

Get your make off to a great start by priming your face. e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer will set you up for the day ahead, preparing your skin so make up glides on evenly and flawlessly for a lasting finish. This magical primer combats excess oil too – perfect for those hot afternoons in the office.

Keep your eyeshadow from creasing and fading with the Mineral Eyeshadow Primer. Not only does this it keep your eyeshadow from doing a vanishing act, but it also contains Vitamins A, C and E, which help prevent aging and moisturise the skin.

Solve the foundation dilemma with mineral make up which is great for sticky summer days, as it reacts well to perspiration, and includes SPF so your skin is protected at all times.  e.l.f.’s Mineral Foundation has a weightless formula that blends into the skin, giving your face a healthy glow without feeling heavy.

To quickly touch up during the day, blot off excess oil with Professional Shine Eraser. This product will instantly absorb oil, minimize pores and mattify shiny skin. Plus they come in a handy travel-size packet, so are perfect for popping in your handbag to take with you on your daily commute to work.

Add a touch of Studio Translucent Matte Powder to keep skin looking matte. This ‘wonder powder’ instantly mattifies skin and diminishes oil and shine to give a healthy look.

Finally, in case you want to refresh your make up after work for a night out with the girls, keep e.l.f’s Professional Travel Brush Kit with you at all times. Small enough to fit into any clutch, this fab collection means you can touch up your make up on the go. Now – Pimms o’clock anyone?

Autumn Winter Make-Up Trends

Autumn Winter Make-Up Trends

The leaves are starting to fall; it’s getting darker when we go to and from work, college or school. Autumn is upon us and after having nearly no summer whatsoever we’re ready to jump into autumn and see what we’ll be wearing on our faces for the next six months.

While the 80’s style is everywhere on the catwalks it’s also pouring into our make-up bags so make sure you stock up on clashing eyeshadows and bold lipsticks. Check out the e.l.f duo eyeshadow creams and mineral lipstick in Royal Red or Fiery Fushia to find your ideal 80’s look.

As always luminescent skin is in. Thanks to Studio by e.l.f. we have the professional look covered at a price which won’t break the bank. Invest in some good primers to ensure your make-up stays still during the drab days of autumn. We recommend the Lip Primer and Plumper and the Eye Primer and Liner Sealer. Not only will they ensure your make-up stays on day and night but being dual purpose they double up and save space in your make-up bag for more e.l.f. goodies!

Which trends do you think will be popular during the autumn and winter and what’s your favourite e.l.f. product to create that look?

5 Make Up Trends You Need to Know for 2009

5 Make Up Trends You Need to Know for 2009

1.      Rainbow Bright Nails

We may be in the grip of a credit crunch but that’s no reason not to brighten your life up with some colourful nail polish. Get our new Royal Purple polish to keep your style sensational. The key nutrients give nails that natural shine, infused with Vitamin E for stronger healthier nails while the quick dry formula allows you to do your nails on the go.

2.      In the Nude

The style of the sixties is back and nude is where it’s at. Try our New Moisture Care Lip Color in 'Bark' with thick twiggy style eyeliner to get this subtle and sexy look.

3.       Just Peachy

This blush gives the appearance of being a bit made up without looking too girly or bronzy. Remember to use a light hand when applying the blush just below your cheeks so it doesn’t look too china doll like. Give our Mineral Blush in 'Coral' a whirl and see your cheeks looking peachy.

4.      The Golden Girl

Gold is going to be this summers ‘it’ colour for eyes. Keep it sensual and in a fantasy style by using our new Mineral Eyeshadow in 'Golden'. Worn dry for a day look or wet for the night, either way this eyeshadow will create an amazing shimmering look bang on trend.

5.      Flawless Skin

A clear complexion is always on trend and e.l.f. knows how to get good skin. Our mineral foundation will help you on your way to healthier illuminated skin while also containing sun protection factor (spf) 15 to protect your skin.

What are your own personal makeup favs for 2009? What do you think of the latest trends in beauty?
