How to recreate the seasons hottest makeup trends using elf cosmetics

How to recreate the seasons hottest makeup trends using elf cosmetics

With London Fashion week AW 2012 well underway, we’ll expect to see lots of Beauty trends rolling off the catwalk!

From Marc Jacobs RED RED Lips to Jason Wu’s winged green eyeshadow, the AW2012 shows has left us in awe and inspired!

However the elf girls were struck most by Anna Sui’s collection with their ‘Blue Eyed Beauties’ rocking the runway with vivid, bolts of lightening blue eyeshadow. The look is toned down with a soft dewy complexion and nude rosebud lips which is also tre on trend…

Anna Sui AW12/13 Catwalk Show at London Fashion Week

Anna Sui's bolt of blue eyeliner

After lots of oohing and ahhing we’ve tried to recreate this look using products from elf cosmetics range.

Check it out below:

 Products used for the look:

How we achieved the look:

Step one: Prep the eyes with a primer to create the perfect canvas for the eyeshadow to adhere to.

Step two: Wet the elf small angled brush with water and dip into the Studio Single Eyeshadow in ‘Seablue’. Starting from the outer corner of the eye line your eyes with the shadow. Make sure to wing out at the outer corners. For more dramatic effect, extend the liner to just under the brow bone.

Step three: Keep building the liner until you reached the desired thickness.

Step four: Now go over the eyeshadow again with Make up lock and seal, to help lock down the shadow for longer wear and intensify the blue

TIP: After wetting the angled brush with the lock and seal solution, dip it into the sea blue eyeshadow before going over your line for an even brighter, bolder look!

Step five: Curl your lashes and apply a coat of Mineral infused Mascara in Black for long and defined lashes.

Step 6: Apply a tinted moisturizer for a dewy complexion. The elf Tinted Moisturiser is hydrating and has SPF 15 for added sun protection, perfect for creating a radiant glow.

Step 7: Cheeks at the Anna Sui catwalk had a very faint, pink tone as to not work against the strong blue in the eyes. Recreate this soft and natural look with elf Studio Blush in Tickled Pink.

Step 8: Lips were kept to a bare minimum in a soft, nude finish. We used elf studio matte lip colour in Tea Rose to recreate the rosebud look. Before applying, prep the lip by exfoliating to get rid of any dryness and slick on a coat of lip balm to keep them hydrated.

Step 9: Line the lips carefully with the matte lip colour before filling in the rest for a more defined lip.

If you prefer a matte finish to a dewy complexion, finish by dusting a layer of elf translucent matte powder over the face using a large face brush like the elf total face brush.

That’s it guys, a high fashion look in a few easy steps!

Now if you’re not a fan of blue shadow or eye makeup, there is no rule to say you cant substitute with another colour! The only rule here is bolder the better! Why not try green or purples we have an extensive range of shadows in array of colours and finishes at elf cosmetics!

We hope you liked it!

Love

Love from e.l.f.
Roses are red; violets are blue; use our makeup tips to find the romantic in you!

As couples across the country rekindle their love for each other, Valentine’s Day offers the perfect opportunity to break the makeup mould. Whether you’re going all out for a candle-lit dinner or simply cuddling on the sofa with a DVD, try these Valentine-inspired looks from e.l.f. to help ensure you have anunforgettable night with your significant other.

Romantic Valentine’s Day – pink smoky

Create a pink smoky eye with the Brightening Eye Color in Glam. Use the darker shade in the crease of the eyelid or as a soft eyeliner. Add a touch of colour to cheeks with the Natural Radiance Blusher in Shy. Take a brush and sweep gently over the powder, tap excess powder off the brush and then blend into the apples of cheeks. Apply the Lipstick in Classy to lips and blend in colour. This pink shade glides easily onto lips. Complete look with a coat of Nail Polish in Light Pink or Innocent. This colour-lock formula with chip resistant shield gives long lasting nail colour with high shine.

Sexy Valentine’s Day – Hollywood glamour

Glide Mineral Eyeshadow in Celebrity over the whole eyelid using your fingertips or an eyeshadow brush. Worn either wet or dry, this shimmery colour really helps eyes stand out. Create “come to bed” lashes with the all-in-one Hollywood Eyelashes Kit.  The kit includes a lash applicator, lash stand, false lashes and adhesive glue. The e.l.f. Nail Polish in Red Velvet is an opulent deep red colour which adds a luxurious touch to any evening outfit. Finish off by creating a perfectly kissable Valentine’s Day mouth with Studio Lip Stain in Red Carpet. The long-wear formula provides full coverage that lasts for hours. Apply the stain to bare lips and allow to dry for a matte finish. Then add the clear gloss on top of the colour for a shiny effect.

Christmas party top tips
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer? Use our tips to avoid cringing at your Christmas party photographs.

Start with a flawless face with minimum fuss and maximum speed with our All Over Cover Stick. With a creamy and blendable formula, the All Over Cover Stick makes an excellent foundation and concealer in one.  Simply apply with fingers, a sponge or brush and blend to the coverage you want.

Even the most camera shy will photo-bomb your snaps after using our soft focus High Definition Powder! Dust a very small amount over foundation and press in with a clean powder puff.  Brush away any excess.

Flutter your lashes wildly as you pass by the mistletoe using our voluptuous Hollywood Eyelash Kit and make sure you're seen on the dance floor by using our glitter Liquid Eyeliners.  But don't forget to pucker up using our Studio Minty Lip Gloss for extra freshness.

If you're getting ready in a hurry, our limited edition 32pc Eyeshadow Palette, has every colour you could need for your look.  Be careful not to let it out of your sight, every girl in the team will be borrowing it...

Make your skin shimmer as you shimmy the night away using the Studio Shimmer Palette, with four flattering creamy shades to enhance eyes, lips, face and décolleté, it is a perfect accompaniement for that special little black dress.

Your toes and fingers won't feel left out, choose one of our stunning Christmas sparkle shades of nail polish.

Finally, every girl's best friend is our Makeup Mist & Set spray and remember a pack of Professional Shine Erasers in your bag along with your lip gloss, to keep shine at bay all night and early morning long.

Steven from Accounts won't know what hit him...

For the morning after, we recommend our Studio Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter.  Smirk as your colleagues marvel at how hard you work as well as how hard you play and still look amazing.

See our latest video tutorial for a Christmas party look here.

Season's greetings from e.l.f.

Get the Look - Twilight Eclipse

Get the Look - Twilight Eclipse
The film already on everyone’s lips is the next instalment of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. In this film, Bella Swan looks as beautiful as ever, but slightly more grown up. As she matures, she’s injected a little more colour into her face.

While we may not all be so lucky to snag our very own Edward Cullen, never fear. e.l.f. is on hand to show you how you can achieve the Bella Swan look for yourself in just a few, gorgeous products.

Bella’s porcelain skin is flawless. A slick of e.l.f. Tinted Moisturiser will give you instant light coverage, and the Clarifying Pressed Powder keep things matte and under control, particularly on the T-zone.

A brush of Natural Radiance Blush in Innocence gives cheeks just a hint of colour. Give your eyes a subtly smoky look like Bella’s with the Duo Eyeshadow in Mocha, and enhance with the Brightening Eye Liner in Coffee.

Make sure brows are groomed with the Wet Gloss Lash And Brow Clear Mascara, and finish eyes off with the Earth And Water Mascara Duo in Brown for an intense, yet natural look.

Make lips stand out with a slick of Mineral Lip Gloss in Night Owl, or, if you want to vamp up your look, go for a layer of Mineral Lipstick in Barely Bitten.

Get ‘Carried’ away with e.l.f.

Get ‘Carried’ away with e.l.f.
Excitement’s reaching a fever pitch as it’s only a week before SATC2 hits our screens – and with it come the fabulous dresses, cocktails, and of course, make up.

Whether you see yourself as a Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda or Samantha, we’ve been avid followers of the love lives and wardrobes of these four Manhattan ladies for over a decade. We may not all be able to afford a closet the size of Carrie’s, but thanks to e.l.f., we can afford to recreate her make up look.  Here’s a few tips from e.l.f. to show you how the four characters’ very different looks can be achieved without breaking the bank…

If you’re a Carrie…

Think gorgeous sun-kissed skin with a touch of sparkle to shimmer throughout the day.  e.l.f.’s Mineral Glow in Bronzed will highlight your cheekbones and ensure you light up any room you walk into. Create gorgeous smoky eyes with Studio Single Eyeshadow in Charcoal and complete your look with Mineral Lip Gloss in Trendsetter.  Stick on a pair of Manolos and you’re good to go!

Maybe you sizzle like Samantha…

Samantha oozes glamour and sophistication at every turn, and her make up matches just that.  Her skin is positively glowing, and you can achieve the same look by using the Mineral Booster to ensure skin is matte and smooth all day long. Use the Cream Eyeliner in Coffee to smoulder with smoky eyes.  Keep colour from fading from your lips by using the Studio Lip Lock Pencil.

Perhaps you’re more of a Miranda…

Ever the professional, Miranda exudes a stylish yet subtle air, and her make up perfectly reflects this.  Her alabaster skin shows you don’t need to be tanned to be sexy.  Add a touch of colour to cheeks with the Studio Blush in Candid Coral, and spice up lips with a splash of Mineral Lipstick in Royal Red.  Keep your cool in the boardroom with the Mineral Infused Mascara in Black to complete the look.

Or maybe you’re a classic rose like Charlotte…

Charlotte always looks young, fresh and downright pretty.  Use the Studio Concealer and Highlighter to keep eyes looking bright.  Achieve Charlotte’s flawless complexion with the Mineral Blemish Kit.  The Studio Lip Stain in Heartbreaker will perfect your pout – and perhaps a few pearls here and there wouldn’t go amiss!
