Liverpool Lasses Set the 'Roller Girl' Trend
Friday, November 20, 2009

Liverpool Lasses Set the 'Roller Girl' Trend

The 'roller girl' trend is sweeping the city with ordinarily glam gals walking around Liverpool in full sets of curlers going about their day like they’re wearing a new fashion accessory!

Rather than being called names like Hilda Ogden the girls are gaining status symbol recognition. With Liverpuddlian celebs such as Abbey Clancy, Alex Curran and Colleen Rooney kick starting this trend it’s no surprise then that the girls of the city are starting to follow suit.

Hair stylist Andrea Daly of Barbara Daly Hair and Beauty in Lime Street explained to the Liverpool Echo: "It's a status thing. It announces the fact you're going out that night and intend to have the biggest, most gorgeous hair possible."

With big and bouncy voluminous hair seen all over the Spring / Summer 2010 catwalks, it could now be time to get yourself some new curlers to walk around in, even if it’s just in the house!

What do you think of the 'roller girl' craze, have you seen anyone doing it in your town? Would you have the guts to leave the house in a full set of curlers or should it be saved for the hair salon?

Celebrities Play Dress Up for Halloween

Celebrities Play Dress Up for Halloween

Halloween is the ideal opportunity to dress up as your favourite celebrity, live out your fantasy as a princess or go for the wicked witch look. This year saw celebrities out in full force to celebrate All Hallows Eve with some of the most bizarre costumes ever!

Top costumes for 2009 included Heidi Klum and Seal at their annual 10th anniversary Halloween party dressed in matching crow costumes, Paris Hilton and her beau Doug dressed as fairies and The Hills Audrina as Madonna.

As usual though, it was celebrity blogger Perez Hilton who really stole the show as he dressed as friend and queen of the costume, Lady Gaga. Perez donned a platinum blonde wig, hair bow, fluttery eyelashes and black and silver sparkly dress for the occasion. Never shy away from attention, eh?

For more amazing pictures of celebrity Halloween costumers log on to the Daily Mail website.

What did you dress up as this Halloween? Post all of your scary Halloween costumes on our facebook fan page so we can see your fabulous outfits.

Japanese Kitty Cafe

Japanese Kitty Cafe

At e.l.f. we like to trawl the internet looking for weird and wonderful happenings in the world and this blog is certainly no exception! How about the new cafe craze in Tokyo - the cat cafe - where customers can have a cuppa and stroke a cat?!

Calico is one of at least three cafes that have opened up in Tokyo this year where visitors can mingle with cats as they enjoy a cup of tea.

Takafumi Fukui, the 34-year-old owner and a long-time cat lover, quit his job at a television game company and started the cafe in March. "In Tokyo, it's not that easy to have cats," he said, explaining that tight housing regulations often forbid pets.

Visitors to Calico pay about £5.30 an hour or £13.30 for three hours in a big room where 14 well-brushed and shampooed cats hang out. After a thorough handwash, the visitor can play with the cats, read comics or just relax. The popular Calicao café gets about 70 visitors a day during the week and a massive 150 at weekends where it’s popular for first dates.

Check out this link to read a firsthand account of a visit at the Calico Cat Cafe.

What do you think of the Cat Cafe? Would you visit one or is it way too weird for you?
