Makeup for Men

Makeup for Men

In an increasingly metrosexual world, perhaps it was just a matter of time.

But yesterday a high street store announced that it would start stocking makeup designed just for men.

Superdrug has announced that it is looking at stocking makeup designed just for men. Named ‘Guy-liner’ and ‘Manscara’, the products aim to target “metrosexual” men who don’t want to use the stuff intended for us ladies. According to the company, the ‘Guy-liner’ pencil is chunkier than the female equivalent and therefore easier to use for men who have bigger hands although they didn't specify how ‘Manscara’ differs from normal mascara.

So ladies, what do you think about men wearing makeup? In a time where male grooming has never been so popular, is this just the next natural progression for our boys or should the smokey eyed man look stay purely the reserve of the likes of Robbie and Russell and Captain Jack Sparrow? Do you think men should be free to express and enhance themselves with makeup in the same way that we do or is this just a big no-no for you? What would you think about your own fella wearing eyeliner and mascara or any other makeup for that matter; would you let him borrow yours?

We'd love to hear your views!

Do you need to wear makeup?

Do you need to wear makeup?

We all want to try to impress that special guy in our life, but does that mean that we slave in the bathroom “putting on our faces” or go au natural? Do you think makeup is a must have when you are around your guy or you don’t worry to put on makeup since you “have” him. Do you find you are more inclined to wear makeup when you are single and then less when you are in a relationship? Let’s hear what makeup items you absolutely can’t leave without and why? Or tell us why you don’t wear makeup.

What's My Undertone?

What's My Undertone?
Find your skin under tone! Hold the under side of your wrist facing upward in good light.

Do you have a golden, yellow, orange, green, or bronze cast to your skin? If you do, your skin is a warm under tone (our tone 2 and 4).

Do you have pink, rosy, beige, or red/brown cast to your skin? If you do, your skin is cool under tone (our tone 1 and 3).

If you still have doubt remember 75% of most people fall into the warm category. When it comes to choosing foundations, concealers, and powders, remember to choose shades with your same undertone. A great way to test foundation shades is to apply a swipe of colour down your jawbone onto your neck. The neck gets very little sun and shows your true skin colour. See if the shade blends well into your skin tone on your neck. This will help to prevent your face looking a different colour from your body. Note: if your face colour is much darker than your neck, match your face colour and blend the foundation onto your neck evenly. Always check the match out in daylight or under a very bright lamp. (sometimes the best colour can be a blend of two tones)

Makeup Age?

Makeup Age?
We get this question all the time, when should I start wearing makeup? When did you start wearing makeup? Do you think that was the appropriate age to start wearing makeup? What age to you think girls should start wearing makeup? Should it be a gradual process where girls start off with only one or two items, then mature into full coverage? What should these items be? So let's hear your thoughts.
