How to recreate the seasons hottest makeup trends using elf cosmetics

How to recreate the seasons hottest makeup trends using elf cosmetics

With London Fashion week AW 2012 well underway, we’ll expect to see lots of Beauty trends rolling off the catwalk!

From Marc Jacobs RED RED Lips to Jason Wu’s winged green eyeshadow, the AW2012 shows has left us in awe and inspired!

However the elf girls were struck most by Anna Sui’s collection with their ‘Blue Eyed Beauties’ rocking the runway with vivid, bolts of lightening blue eyeshadow. The look is toned down with a soft dewy complexion and nude rosebud lips which is also tre on trend…

Anna Sui AW12/13 Catwalk Show at London Fashion Week

Anna Sui's bolt of blue eyeliner

After lots of oohing and ahhing we’ve tried to recreate this look using products from elf cosmetics range.

Check it out below:

 Products used for the look:

How we achieved the look:

Step one: Prep the eyes with a primer to create the perfect canvas for the eyeshadow to adhere to.

Step two: Wet the elf small angled brush with water and dip into the Studio Single Eyeshadow in ‘Seablue’. Starting from the outer corner of the eye line your eyes with the shadow. Make sure to wing out at the outer corners. For more dramatic effect, extend the liner to just under the brow bone.

Step three: Keep building the liner until you reached the desired thickness.

Step four: Now go over the eyeshadow again with Make up lock and seal, to help lock down the shadow for longer wear and intensify the blue

TIP: After wetting the angled brush with the lock and seal solution, dip it into the sea blue eyeshadow before going over your line for an even brighter, bolder look!

Step five: Curl your lashes and apply a coat of Mineral infused Mascara in Black for long and defined lashes.

Step 6: Apply a tinted moisturizer for a dewy complexion. The elf Tinted Moisturiser is hydrating and has SPF 15 for added sun protection, perfect for creating a radiant glow.

Step 7: Cheeks at the Anna Sui catwalk had a very faint, pink tone as to not work against the strong blue in the eyes. Recreate this soft and natural look with elf Studio Blush in Tickled Pink.

Step 8: Lips were kept to a bare minimum in a soft, nude finish. We used elf studio matte lip colour in Tea Rose to recreate the rosebud look. Before applying, prep the lip by exfoliating to get rid of any dryness and slick on a coat of lip balm to keep them hydrated.

Step 9: Line the lips carefully with the matte lip colour before filling in the rest for a more defined lip.

If you prefer a matte finish to a dewy complexion, finish by dusting a layer of elf translucent matte powder over the face using a large face brush like the elf total face brush.

That’s it guys, a high fashion look in a few easy steps!

Now if you’re not a fan of blue shadow or eye makeup, there is no rule to say you cant substitute with another colour! The only rule here is bolder the better! Why not try green or purples we have an extensive range of shadows in array of colours and finishes at elf cosmetics!

We hope you liked it!

Love

Spring is in the air

Spring is definitely in the air (at long last) so it'll soon be time to push your winter make-up to the back of your stash.

If ever you needed an excuse to buy new cosmetics, this is it!

Warmer days will make way for lighter foundation, subtle spring shades and waterproof mascara. And if Kate Nash's recent make-up look in the video for new single 'Doo Wah Do' is anything to go by, coral is back!

Think cutesy, barely there coral lips teamed with rosy pink cheeks and a quick flick of liquid liner for a Twiggy-esque retro look.

Keep eyeshadow simple and chic with warm pink and peach tones and follow with a slick of mascara.

In keeping with the ice cream colours catwalk trend, try pastel pinks, lilacs and baby blues on the nails and fake the tan with a hint of bronzer.

We're looking forward to hitting the beach already! Now, where's those sunnies?

What make-up will you be digging out this coming season?

Two Toned Lipstick – Love or Loathe it?

Two Toned Lipstick – Love or Loathe it?

We’re all big fans of a bit of lippie here at e.l.f. so what do you think of getting to wear two of your favourite shades at the same time to create a two-toned look?

The 80’s inspired trend, as seen on the Emanuel Ungaro and Dior catwalks see's one shade of lipstick on your upper lip, and a contrasting shade on the lower lip.

It seems to be all the rage; even our favourite style icon ‘Katie’ from top blog What Katie Wore has been rocking the trend.

One of our favourite e.l.f. combo's to create this trend are our Mineral lipsticks in Party Pink & Firey Fuchsia  worn together for a subtle and edgy look..... and for a grand total of £7 for two gorgeous lippies, this is one new look you can afford to experiment with that won’t break the budget.

What do you think of this trend and what e.l.f. shades would you choose for your two-toned lips?

Models Refuse to Wear the Armadillo Shoes

Models Refuse to Wear the Armadillo Shoes

You thought you’d seen it all when we exposed the heel-less shoes as worn by celebrities and models in 2009 but check out these Alexander McQueen 10-inch high Armadillo shoes!

Although they were recently paraded down the runway and later spotted on the likes of Daphne Guinness and Lady Gaga, it seems Alexander McQueen's ten inch tall stilettos didn't find their way onto the feet of some of the fashion set. Apparantly, models Abbey Lee Kershaw, Natasha Poly and Sasha Pivovarova refused to wear the precarious pairs and were therefore cut from the designer's show.

What do you think of the 10-inch high Armadillo shoes and the models that refused to wear them?
