X Factor Goes Gaga
Monday, December 7, 2009

X Factor Goes Gaga

Lady Gaga lived up to everybody’s expectations as she worked the The X Factor stage for the semi final results, writhing around in a giant bath with her zombie-like backing dancers.

Looking bizarrely like a cross between Gwen Stefani a la 1920’s platinum locks and Amy Winehouse with her thick, black winged eyeliner, Lady Gaga looked very inch the superstar.

The uber sexy singer showcased a new look feminine hairstyle with her trademark sunglasses nowhere to be seen. She still showed off her naughty side however and worked her bondage-esque wardrobe by wearing a leather leotard, gothic gargoyle inspired wings and horns and a prism shaped corset that encompassed her hips to reveal her bare legs.

When Dermott asked for some advice for The X Factor contestants she simple said “Be yourself and don’t let anyone ever tell you, you can’t do it.” Sound advice that hasn’t worked too badly for her!

Gaga also revealed that she couldn’t wait for 2010 when she will be touring the UK, so if you’re a big fan check out her official website for more information about tour dates and venues www.ladygaga.com/events

What did you think of her performance of The X Factor and who has been your favourite celebrity performance throughout the series?

Celebrities Play Dress Up for Halloween

Celebrities Play Dress Up for Halloween

Halloween is the ideal opportunity to dress up as your favourite celebrity, live out your fantasy as a princess or go for the wicked witch look. This year saw celebrities out in full force to celebrate All Hallows Eve with some of the most bizarre costumes ever!

Top costumes for 2009 included Heidi Klum and Seal at their annual 10th anniversary Halloween party dressed in matching crow costumes, Paris Hilton and her beau Doug dressed as fairies and The Hills Audrina as Madonna.

As usual though, it was celebrity blogger Perez Hilton who really stole the show as he dressed as friend and queen of the costume, Lady Gaga. Perez donned a platinum blonde wig, hair bow, fluttery eyelashes and black and silver sparkly dress for the occasion. Never shy away from attention, eh?

For more amazing pictures of celebrity Halloween costumers log on to the Daily Mail website.

What did you dress up as this Halloween? Post all of your scary Halloween costumes on our facebook fan page so we can see your fabulous outfits.

Japanese Kitty Cafe

Japanese Kitty Cafe

At e.l.f. we like to trawl the internet looking for weird and wonderful happenings in the world and this blog is certainly no exception! How about the new cafe craze in Tokyo - the cat cafe - where customers can have a cuppa and stroke a cat?!

Calico is one of at least three cafes that have opened up in Tokyo this year where visitors can mingle with cats as they enjoy a cup of tea.

Takafumi Fukui, the 34-year-old owner and a long-time cat lover, quit his job at a television game company and started the cafe in March. "In Tokyo, it's not that easy to have cats," he said, explaining that tight housing regulations often forbid pets.

Visitors to Calico pay about £5.30 an hour or £13.30 for three hours in a big room where 14 well-brushed and shampooed cats hang out. After a thorough handwash, the visitor can play with the cats, read comics or just relax. The popular Calicao café gets about 70 visitors a day during the week and a massive 150 at weekends where it’s popular for first dates.

Check out this link to read a firsthand account of a visit at the Calico Cat Cafe.

What do you think of the Cat Cafe? Would you visit one or is it way too weird for you?

Cheryl goes alone with the debut of her solo single

Cheryl goes alone with the debut of her solo single

Girl of the moment Cheryl Cole premiered her first solo single ‘Fight for this Love’ on Radio 1’s breakfast show with Chris Moyles on Monday.

Cheryl, who is well known for her love of fashion and glamour girl looks, has ventured out on her own with her first single without Girls Aloud proving she could be a force to be reckoned with after being compared to Kylie by fellow X Factor judge Louis Walsh.

While Cheryl’s no stranger to being on X Factor if the rumour mill reports are true then we could see her performing her new single on one of the live shows. If this is true how will her singing compare to the finalists? We all saw the performance of Girls Aloud last year and can’t say it was pitch perfect.

Cheryl's debut solo album will reportedly feature the singer in collaboration with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am who she worked with last yaer as part of a Girls Aloud show, Xenomania and Taio Cruz.

Why not have a listen and let us know what you think? Should Cheryl stick to being in Girls Aloud or should she go it alone?

Lily Allen Launches Jewellery Range

Lily Allen Launches Jewellery Range

Apart from being a singer, style icon and constant paparazzi favourite Lily Allen has found the time to create her very own funky and fun jewellery range.

She explained: “I’m really pleased with all of the designs, we worked hard on getting them exactly how we wanted them from choosing the right chain length and thickness to deciding what should be in gold and what looks better in silver. I do love the animals though - the pandas are fantastic.”

The launch of the animal inspried range, held at Claridges London also saw Lily cause a media frenzy when she revealed a little more nipple than she’d anticpated almost stealing the limelight of her new venture but it’s nothing we haven’t see before!

She explained to vogue.com: “I love jewellery, always have done. I feel that it completes an outfit. You can change your whole look just by changing which jewellery you choose to go with what you’re wearing.”

If you like the look of it or just love Lily keep your eyes peeled for when it’s launched in stores for Christmas, prices will range from £30-£100.

What do you think of Lily’s new range? Do you think she should just stick to singing or has she cracked it in the fashion stakes too?
