Makeup Age?

Makeup Age?
We get this question all the time, when should I start wearing makeup? When did you start wearing makeup? Do you think that was the appropriate age to start wearing makeup? What age to you think girls should start wearing makeup? Should it be a gradual process where girls start off with only one or two items, then mature into full coverage? What should these items be? So let's hear your thoughts.

Hi Elf, my daughter is 14 and has eczema so her skin is sensitive. I have discouraged her from wearing foundation and face powder because of this, but she does love Elf mascara, lip gloss and eye shadow. I think that is enough for now

Hi e.l.f! i only started wearing make-up when i was 16! Most of my friends wore it much earlier though, i think a suitable age is when you'er a teenager so 13+. It should just be minor things and then build up to full coverage as they get older. I'm 18 now and i still don't use a full coverage foundation-i think thats only necessary when you're going out at night but during the day keep it natural! xx

Up to the age of about 16 my parents refused to let me use any make up, claiming that it would spoil my skin. I used to hate hearing them say that and thought they were restricting my individuality and showing me up as 'odd' amongst my friends who were all wearing quite a bit at Secondary school. However looking back six years on 22 years old now I completely agree with may parents. I am glad I wasn't allowed to wear make up from a young age. Their advice of fluids and a simple cleansing routine has meant I have seldom worn foundation and I'm glad I didn't rebel too much

i reckon that there is no right or wrong age to wear makeup....well obviusly dont let a 7 yr old at it but there is an age where a girl needs to feel beautifull and wants to make an effort and when tha age comes it should be brought in slowly....start of with mascara and as they get older and more responsible buy it for them...or mabey if they do well in a test for a treat take them to get there makeup done proffesionally and buy the product...i spose it depens on how responsible the child is...ive worn makeup scince i was 12

I only started wearing make-up at 11 years old to cover the hormonal spots i had begun to get. But that was only concealer and powder and although they did the job of covering my spots up they also made them breed like flipping gremlins. Of course it could have been because i slapped it on with a trowel! As i have got older i have definatley realised less is more well only where make-up is concerned. Dannii 27

Hiya Im 13 years old, and I started to wear make up about 6 months ago, and I love it! I take care of my skin, so the effects aren't as bad as they will be in a few years time. I've tried foundation and actually use tinted moisturizer so it's nice on my skin D But I love E.L.F products and I think im getting a little addicted.. luckily my friends haven't found out the cheap secret of E.L.F yet, but I doubt I'll be able to keep it for much longer. I'd just recommend to any young, middle aged or old person out there who wears make-up Take Care Of You Skin!!

I'm a 36 yr old mum and my daughter is only 6. She loves playing 'makeup' with me but knows its a 'treat' and isnt allowed to keep it on for long. I do let her wear a bit of my lipstick for very special occasions but it doesnt last long! I wont allow my daughter to wear makeup until she's well into her teenage years but i will teach her the importance of looking after her skin from a young age.

Hiya everyone!!! im 14 and i started wearing makeup properly about 6 months ago!! I now wear mascara, eye shadow, lip gloss and eyeliner everyday! Some of my friends think that i wear to much but i think i look fine. When i was 13 i started to wear like a little bit of lip gloss and eyeshadow, but not anything you could tell!! I just did my first order and i hope it comes soon as i cant believe that everything is only £1.50! It is so cheap!! One tip though if you have a body care near you then you will be buy brushes for only a £1 but other than that i can't believe its soo cheap!

I've started wearing make-up at 13, at first just a bit of mascara and coloured lip balm. And it worked for me, because suddenly everyone started noticing my big blue eyes! However, I never ever liked fairly young girls looking like a chinese painted doll which is really my polite expression for young professional 'ladies of the night'. I think that too much make up can be overbearing and disguise the fact, that the girl has got a real natural beauty. There is quite a few celebrities suffering with this 'condition' and with the most of young girls at the beginning of their teenage years 'Less is honestly more!'

hey everyone! im 13 and i wear makeuo everyday, and ive worn makeup since a young age,but when i was little it was like a treat,if we were going out then my mum would put a bit of lipstick on me but it wasnt like an everyday thing when i was about 7 or 8 i used mascara now and again. when i was 9 i used to wear mascara most days, blush, lipgloss, and eheshadow. then at about 11 or 12 i started to u se foundation. but now i usr everything,oh yes. and i love it i wear foundation to cover my blemisheswhich we all have at my age i wear lipgloss to make me poutttttt i wear mascara o make me look well lush and you know what, noeone has a problem with it i dont think there should be an age where people say it is appropriate, cos we should decide for ourselves,i mean even at two i once squiggled eyeliner all over my face, but even now there are some girls in my class who dont wear any ,but the ones who do look far better but all of that was just my opinion, perhaps a little long winded but, yeah .in a bizzle xox

Hi elf. I'm 35 now, and started wearing make-up at 13 - but that was just eyeshadow. I didn't start wearing foundation til I was in my 20's, and even now, it's a very rare occurance. I agree with the previous comment about minature 'ladies of the night -' I think it's horrible to see little girls looking like Jackie Stallone! Make-up should always be natural, unless you're a drag artist, and little girls should be left as little girls for as long as possible!

i started wearing makeup when i was around 14, and i am 19 now, i think using a full face of cheap makeup completely ruined my skin, i really wish my mum had stopped me from using makeup!!

Hi, I am 13 and only wear a bit of gloss or mascara but never for school. Some of my friends just pile the makeup on and it looks as if they are dolls faces.

hi im 15 and ive been wearing make up since i was about 12. i started off just wearing a bit of stick foundation for school etc, none of my friends wore make up well not properly so i felt beautiful. Eventually i went on to use liquid foundation that i bought from my local market which was only £1.50 but it was like paint so i changed it for Elizabeth Arden creme compact foundation which was like clay on my skin. I wore powder, blusher and mascara as well. I went through a bit of a 'Goth' phase and wore black eyeliner, but as my eyes are quite small it looked ridiculous. My friends copied me and wore it themselves but could never do it properly so they always looked like pandas and still do . When i was about 14 i started to wear Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation, but it was too much for school so i began to just wear Bronzer. All of my friends still wear Elizabeth Arden and eyeliner and fail to show there natural beauty under all of the make up. I realised that with make up LESS IS MORE ! e.l.f make up is like the best thing i have ever discovered because they believe in natural looking beauty. So, age is no object when choosing to wear make up, just as long as you dont over do it and end up looking like a Drag Queen ala my friends / Faye 15 x x
